IT RAINED VERY HARD ALL THE WAY, SO WE HAD TO STAY INSIDE BUT WOULD LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND WATCH THE "WILD WAVES" WHICH WE ENJOYED VERY MUCH. REACHED TRAVERSE JUST BEFORE DARK. WENT TO THE NEAREST HOTEL. WERE KINDLY CARED FOR. SAT. MORNING AT 7 O'CLOCK I WENT DOWN WITH LIDA AND SAW HER ABOARD THE BOAT BACK TO SUTTONS BAY, AND AT 8:30 TOOK THE STAGE FOR THIS PLACE. THERE WAS NO OTHER PASSENGER AND THE DRIVER WAS ENTERTAINING AS NEED BE AND TOOK GOOD CARE OF ME, BUT THE ROAD WAS VERY ROUGH AND AS THE STAGE IS SIMPLY A LUMBER WAGON WITH SPRING SEAT. I GOT VERY TIRED INDEED. WHEN WE GOT TO THE HALFWAY HOUSE WHERE THEY FEED AND TAKE DINNER, I WENT TO SLEEP FOR AN HOUR ELSE I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE GIVEN OUT ENTIRELY.
