HE BOUGHT IT FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF CULTIVATION. THAT HE WENT ON IT THIS SPRING BUT WAS HINDERED FROM THE OCCUPANCY THEREOF BY A NUMBER OF INDIANS OF THE POTTAWATOMIE TRIBE WHO WERE PREPARING TO PLANT CORN & WHO MENACES OF VIOLENCE DROVE HIM OFF,AND EVEN THREATENED TO SHOOT HIM IF HE ATTEMPT TO DISTURB THEIR POSSESSIONS.
